Police has introduced tougher measures for phone users while driving .The measures come after an increased occurrence of road accidents as a result of interuptive communication on roads including busy highways.
The Deputy police spokesperson ,Vincent Sekate told the press on Tuesday that police has initiated a heavier fine for those who will be found sending SMSs,making calls or any forms of communication on the road .
“Those we find using phones on the road will pay a fine of shs100,000 or imprisonment for not less than one year” Mr.Sekate said
He said that many people have died in nasty accidents ,all because of drivers making calls while driving .He added that it becomes hard for people speaking on phones to control the vehicles they are driving especially when a vehicle goes astray.
