First Lady Janet Museveni and Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi are expected to appear before the Public Accounts committee.PM Mbabazi and the first lady were summoned to appear before PAC on Wednesday  February 6 , this week. The two were summoned by the Vice Chairperson of the Parliamentary Accounts committee, Paul Mwiru.

First lady Janet Museveni  is expected to explain how she traveled to Israel eight times in November last year.The MP for Ruhaama county and minister for Karamoja Affairs which falls under the Office of the Prime Minister  is reported to have travelled eight  times to Israel in one month last year using Shs 143.6m in donor funds meant for the rehabilitation of Northern Uganda and Karamoja.

According to sources at parliament ,the Public Accounts Committee is said to be divided about summoning the first lady  directly to appear before PAC.

Meanwhile Mbabazi is expected to explain how he got his official new Mercedes Benz.Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana reportedly withdrew Shs 20.1bn from the Crisis Management Account to buy ministers in his office new cars, including a brand new Mercedes Benz for Mbabazi.

“ … As the committee, we have to meet Mbabazi and Janet Museveni to give their views regarding the accusations against them into our inquiry at the Office of the Prime Minister because they are both ministers and the political heads of these ministries so we expect them to have supervised these projects,” PAC Vice said confirming the summon of the two big officials
