A fuso driver and commuters waiting for taxis to Kampala survived an early morning accident when an errant driver rammed a truck in a roadside trench next to where they were waiting, causing injuries on their bodies.

The driver of a FUSO lorry registration number UAP 036X belonging to one Jimmy Kyeswa of Mukono, identified as Wasswa Jimmy a resident of Kitete zone, was said to have been travelling from Soroti where he had delivered culverts the day before.

Rescuers pulled him out of the damaged truck and sat him by the roadside and led him to  Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital where he has been admitted.

There was a temporary traffic jam as police got into the process of towing away the damaged vehicle.

The officer in charge of traffic police Mukono Annette Nakibuuka has attributed the accident to wreck less driving.
