Parliament is to buy iPad Tablet Computers for MPs as a way of cutting communication costs and fixing them in line with the growing technology.
With the gadgets in the hands of legislators ,any communication at parliament will be online instead of printing and photocopying documents ,Parliamentary Commissioner, Elijah Okupa has revealed.
For MPs who do not know how to use the ipads ,an IT firm will be contracted to train them on usage .
Figures from Parliament show that the government spent at least Shs32 billion over the last two financial years on computer supplies, printing, stationery, photocopying, binding, postage, courier and other communication costs.
They hope to save money by moving to paper-less operations in the House. Parliament is expected to spend at least 1 billion on the gadgets.
