The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has split into two over summoning the First Lady Janet Museveni over the misuse of PRDP funds.
The PAC committee members belonging to the NRM party are against summoning Mrs Janet Museveni arguing that it undermines her dignity while those on the Opposition side say she was summoned her in the capacity as the Minister for Karamoja Affairs not as the First Lady.
The members clashed in a brief meeting held on Monday morning with the PAC chairperson insisting that the First Lady should should answer for the misused PRDP funds.
First Lady ,Janet Museveni is accused of using the Peace Recovery and Development funds for Northern Uganda to make eight trips to Israel in one month.The Chairperson of PAC Paul Mwiru summoned her to appear at the committee on Wednesday this week
NRM members in PAC argue that Mr Paul Mwiru should have summoned the First Lady through the Speaker of Parliament, Rebbeca Kadaga not directly by the committee.
