After the halted OPM Probe early this week ,the Public Accounts Committee on Thursday kicked of an another investigation in a Banana Project in which the Government invested 40 billion shillings
The project was established under the Presidential initiative on Bananas to provide rural farmers with access to processing and value addition. A report by the Auditor General indicates that there has been no value for money since the year 2005.
The committee is set to interrogate all the leaders who were entrusted with this project first staged in Western Uganda .The officials will have to explain the value of the funds since research shows that little was done.
The chairperson of the committee Wadri Kassiano early this week was quoted saying that when the committee is done with the banana project, it will continue with other value for money audits like the fisheries project on Lake Victoria and the ministry of health.
