Nigerians have become the AFCON 2013 champions after 19 years of waiting.Nigeria were crowned the 2013 AFCON CHAMPIONS after beating Burkina Faso 1-0 at the National Stadium in Johansburg.
The goal came from Sunday Mba after a great effort in the game which ended with Burkina Faso loosing.

Thousands of Nigerians who gathered near the national stadium in Lagos to watch the final on two big screens hugged one another, danced with abandon and held plastic chairs aloft.

They counted down the final seconds and fireworks exploded above them after the 1-0 win by their Super Eagles over Burkina Faso was assured, giving the country its first Nations Cup title since 1994.

In addition to winning the $1.5million first prize, Nigeria’s Super Eagles have also secured the right to represent Africa at the FIFA Confederations Cup taking place later in the year in Brazil.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, also known as the Orange Africa Cup of Nations for sponsorship reasons, held from 19 January to 10 February 2013, was the 29th Africa Cup of Nations, the football championship of Africa organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
