Members of parliament who belongs to the Acholi parliamentary group have threatened to organize a massive violent demonstration over speaker Kadaga’s decision to halt the investigations into the financial mismanagement in the Office of the Prime Minister.
The angry MPs from the northern region who included Betty Anywar, Christopher Achile and Gilbert Oulanyah told reporters at parliament on Thursday that is unfair to stop the investigations on the people who misused money meant to develop their region.
“The intention of halting the investigations was because the committee had reached the time of calling the minister in charge of Karamoja Affairs and the prime minister because their names were implicated in Auditor general report as one of the people who misused PRDP money. We are extremely unhappy with the speaker’s decision. Our money was swindled by greedy individuals. We don’t have medical centres and modern schools in our area. We have remained with no other option apart from holding a massive and violent demonstration to express our disappointment to the government” Said Kitgum Woman MP ,Betty Anywar
“We are going to mobilize our people in Gulu to express our dissatisfaction to the government. We shall not fear tear gas because we have suffered enough on NRM regime. We are ready to battle with the police this time in case they are tempted to interfere with our programs. We request the deputy speaker Jacob Oulanyah to come and join us in this demonstration because he is also a son of Acholi land” Said Hon Achila Christopher
On Tuesday this week the investigations into the financial misappropriation in the office of the prime minister by the public accounts committee of parliament were halted by the Speaker of parliament after the Director public prosecution (DPP), Richard Buteera said that they were interfering with court proceedings .
