The Members of Parliament from Acholi Sub region have met in a bid to seek ways to see way forward on how the sub region should be helped at the time when funding for the PRDP have been halted.
The Acholi sub region was one of the regions in the northern Part of Uganda benefiting from the Peace Recovery and Development Plan for Northern Uganda (PRDP) Funds.
The funds were stopped after the Office of the Prime minister, which supervised the program, was allegedly cited in a scam where billions of shillings are still under investigation.
Since the programs were stopped and donors choosing to withdraw their funding, Acholi sub region has been left in a dilemma.
Now the Acholi Parliamentary Group vice chairperson, CD Lowila Oketta, who is also the Woman MP for Pader district in a telephone interview with Uganda Picks, confirmed their meeting.
Lowila who chaired the meeting herself since the chairperson –Regan Okumu was abroad said that they were looking for an alternative donors to help the region that is recovering after over 20 years of LRA Insurgency.
The Pader Woman MP also urged the locals in Acholi sub region to stay calm and engage in activities such as Agriculture as they are seeking alternative ways for developing their livelihoods.
