Some drivers of members of parliament are complaining over the poor working conditions and have asked the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga to intervene as soon as possible.
The drivers made complaints while meeting representatives of drivers under the Centre Organizations of Trade Union (COFTU) in a meeting held at parliament.
Among other things, the drivers complain of poor pay and making them drive long journeys without giving them lunch.
Among the drivers who are complaining include,the driver for Samia Bugwe north MP John Mulimba, the driver for Zombo County MP Omonyo Stanley, driver for Apachi district woman MP Lucy Ajoko, the driver for Kawempe north MP Latif Ssebagala, driver for Achia Remigio for Pian county and that of Dokolo woman MP Cecilia Ogwal among others.
The chairperson of these drivers proposed that their money should be directly deducted by parliament from MPs salaries since MPs have refused to pay them well.
“We want madam speaker to come and help us.We are demanding a lot money from MPs. They deliberately don’t want to pay us because parliament gives them their money.We also have responsibilities at our homes.Our children are seated at home because we don’t have money to take them to school.We want the speaker to come out and solve our problem,” One of the drivers said
