John Mbadwe a top official at the  Ministry of Local Government has been arrested .Mbadwe is accused of stealing shs1bn meant for boosting agriculture.Sources told Uganda Picks that Mbadwe has been at Special Investigations Unit of Police in Kireka  (SIU) since Tuesday.

Mbadwe was the main coordinator of the Community Agriculture Infrastructure Improvement Programme (CAIIP)  project which was established to increase agricultural productivity and  rural household incomes through investment in infrastructure.The project was being run under the Local Government.

CAIIP’s main objectives were to support rural road improvement, sub county market structure improvement, rural electrification of markets and community mobilization and capacity building.
