Makerere University’s supreme governing body says it will maintain the 60% tuition payment policy as a way of improving service delivery at the top public University .

The body has insisted on the March 8th deadline for all private sponsored students to have paid at least 60% of their tuition  or they miss any exams given plus coursework.The bitter students  have so far ended the strike and are back to studies with fear that they have lost their fight of having the  policy changed.

All major areas around the university such as the Library,Senate ,Main Building ,the main gate are heavily guarded by police after threats by some students to hurt the new Vice Chancellor ,Proffessor Sentamu Dumba.

Prof. Ddumba  insists that the policy must be implemented and students  who are not willing to go by it  leave the university.The policy was approved by the university council, the supreme governing body, in 2006/2007 academic year.
