Andrew ‘Desh’ Kananura has been granted a sh20m cash bail by the Kampala High court.

Kananura at the time is facing murder charges of one of the waiters at his bar, Panarema bar, Badru Katerega whom he found with sh30,000 despite having told every employee that they could not carry money to work.

One of the bail conditions was that the city businessman had to deposit his passport at the court and his sureties at a non-cash bond of sh50m. He is however yet to get his freedom for he still faces a fraud case at Buganda Road Court.

Kananura denies the murder charges. He had been previously remanded to Luzira prison at City Hall Grade I by Magistrate Juliet Hatang.

Kananura is co accused together with Cyrus Maganda, Samuel Muzulewa and Jacob Onyango. The three were granted court bail.

Kananura last week applied for bail citing poor health citing diabetes and lack of medicine in the prison to treat him, something which was assented to by the prison doctor.
