Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II performed the ritual functions to kick-start the restoration process of Kasubi Tombs on Sunday.
During the function held at Twekobe in Mengo , the Kabaka handed over the sacred items as required in Kiganda traditions to the people who have been entrusted with the restoration exercise of Kasubi Tombs.
Kabaka Mutebi appreciated the entire plan that has been drawn for the restoration exercise which he directed to go on and complete the tombs.
The 2nd Deputy Katikkiro who is also the minister for Culture, Royal Tombs and Tourism Hajji Muhamood Ssemmambo Ssekimpi explained that this function has been very crucial and has been long overdue before the restoration process could begin.
Ssemmambo called upon to people in Buganda to contribute towards this noble cause and appealed Kabaka’s chiefs Cadres to mobilize people on this cause to have the restoration work competed within the specified time frame.
The function was attended by the 2nd Deputy Katikkiro Hajji Muhamood Ssemmambo Ssekimpi, Ssaabalangira Moses Kayima, the minister of state for culture Denis Ssengendo, Ssalongo Mulumba from Kasubi Tombs, Nnalinnya Ggimbo Naayimbambiro from Wamala Tombs, and Ssewava Sserubiri a Coordinator in the office of the 2nd Deputy Katikkiro on culture.
