Although Burkina Faso’s Jonathan Pitroipa was red carded yesterday during in AFCON match against Ghana, there is a chance that he can be eligible to play in the finals against Nigeria.
Jonathan Pitroipa was red carded by the Tunisian referee for for simulation in the penalty box though replays showed that Jonathan was clearly fouled. The decision came as a shock to many soccer lovers in Africa given the fact that many other bad decisions had been made against Burkina Faso.
However, Jonathan Pitroipa can still play in the Finals against Nigeria if Burkina Faso can make an appeal against the red card though the final decision will remain to CAF to decide if he can play. According to the rules, if there is sufficient evidence that the red card was given in error, the red card can be over turned by CAF.
The Stallions however managed to overcame his sending off and won 3-2 in the penalty shoot-out after the game had finished 1-1 after extra time, booking the country’s first ever trip to the African Cup of Nations final
