John Kerr of ‘South Pacific’ has died of heart failure at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena aged 81.
His son, Micheal confirmed his death on Saturday. Some of this movie roles include “South Pacific,” the thriller “The Pit and the Pendulum” and a Tony Award-winning turn in “Tea and Sympathy”.
Kerr is survived by his wife, Barbara Chu, stepchildren Sharon and Chris Chu, daughters Rebecca Kerr, Jocelyn Kerr-Thantrakul and son Michael Kerr from his first marriage, and seven grandchildren.
Kerr is a Harvard graduate who enrolled in law school at the University of California, Los Angeles and graduated in 1969. He had a private practice until retiring in 2000.
