The Kampala city council Authority boss Jennifer Musisi will on Monday 18th Feb 2013 appear before the committee of local government and public service chaired by Kalungu district woman MP Florence Kintu.
According to the source seating on this committee, the KCCA boss will appear before the committee and give the accountability of the funds allocated to Kampala Capital City Authority.
The source told our reporter that a lot of money has been allocated for maintaining the city but it has been consistently misused by KCCA officials.
The source cited out the 700M shilling which was allocated for the renovation of the city mortuary, the 5bshilling meant to reconstruct Kafumbe Mukasa road, the shs17b for garbage collection and the shs16b for the youth in Kampala. During the MPs tour in the city last week they discovered that a lot of money was allocated to KCCA but the money was mismanaged.
Although Mrs Musisi petitioned the speaker of parliament last week and demanded parliament to shift the investigations of KCCA matters from the committee of local government and public service to presidential Affairs committee, it didn’t stop the committee from summoning her.
She said in the petition that some members seating on local government committee have conflict of interest in the investigations cited out Mukono municipality MP Betty Nambooze together with Rubaga north MP Moses Kasibante.
The committee had summoned Mrs. Musisi today,Friday but she asked the meeting to be postponed to next week to enable her consulting her officials before she appears before the committee.
