Forum for Democratic Change women leader Ingrid Turinawe has sued the government of Uganda and  the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander for assaulting and violating her rights.

In a case  filed at the High Court in Kampala last Thursday,Turinawe is demanding  sh560m for her  vandalised car and violation of her rights as she headed to Nansana a Kampala surburb to attend a political rally .

She also claims that the arrest inconvenienced her scheduled trip to Hoima district .Through her lawyers from Rwakafuuzi and Company Advocates,Turinawe claims that though  she tried to explain her program to police ,they never paid any attention and went ahead to arrest her.

She explains that during the arrest her car was vandalized and holds police accountable for the damages.

She is demanding sh300m as compensation for the car and sh200m in damages.

On top of this ,Turinawe wants  sh30m for  violation of her right to liberty and sh30m for violation of her right to assembly.
