‘Desh’ Andrew Kananura applied for bail and court is to decide if to grant it to him or not today.

Kananura, who is currently on remand in Luzira prison over the murder of Abdu Katerega at his bar in Ntinda, Panerama first refused to apply for bail saying he would be harmed if he got out of prison.

He refused to apply for bail after appearing in court over separate charges of fraud in which he is accused by Hajj Sailat Ssemakula of Sema Properties of taking sh340m to buy him a car. Explaining why his client did not apply for bail, Kananura’s lawyer, Geoffrey Nangumya said, “We were not ready to apply for bail because the State used an ambush on my client. It’s pure a civil matter. I wouldn’t comment any further but we shall defend him.”

Today however, Kananura complains of poor health in the prison and wants out.
