By Sandra Birungi

The Executive Secretary/Registrar at National Drug Authority (NDA), Gordon Sematiko has issued a warning to all clinics or hospitals selling capsules to sell them within a period of six months or face repacations.

Mr. Sematiko issued the warning while giving out motor bikes to NDA officers who he said will carry out the exercise after the six months expire.

“Clinics can unseal these drugs say in January and sell them to the end of the year and you find that the quality of these drugs declines,” Mr. Sematiko said.

The drugs, according to Mr. Sematiko will be only available to patients in government officials and other big NGO hospitals like Namirembe, Nsambya, among others.

Beginning this month, the NDA is going to set clear guidelines which are supposed to be followed to help improve better quality of drugs into the country. “These drugs (capsules), we have found out that they are easily duplicated and they make their way into the country. We want to be sure that they are managed well,” Mr. Sematiko said.
