A Chinese stone quarry investor has been summoned over a water-filled ditch which has left four people dead in the past few months.
Operation of M/S Medallion Stone Quarry in Namubiru village, Nama sub-county, have left the killer ditch located next to a path to the village well, and adjacent to the way used by children to and from school.
The ditch which is located about fifty feet from the original ground level, is said to be home to snakes, and an attraction to locals because it is also said to harbour fish which they trap for food.
The residents who led the district team headed by the area MP and State Minister for Youth and Children Ronald Kibuule said, the Chinese owner has turned a deaf ear to their cries to have the ditch emptied.
Minister Kibuule said he has instructed the office of the RDC to summon the investor for a dialogue on how to set up measures to safeguard people.
