Adam Suleiman Kalungi, the boyfriend of deceased Butaleja Woman MP, Cerinah Nebanda refused to apply for bail despite his co-accused being granted the bail.
Six people are accused of the murder of Nebanda. Of the six are Noor Abubakar, Khan Babu, Abdul Abid Rashid Butt, Ali Omar Almuzahim, and Fatuma Babu. Each was granted a sh10m cash bail.
Makindye court Chief Magistrate Ester Nambayo on Tuesday granted bail to the five and asked them to deposit their passports and land titles.
They face charges of manslaughter charges and two counts of being in possession of narcotic drugs contrary to the National Drug Policy and Authority Act.
It is not clear why Kalungi refused to apply for bail although it is speculated that he fears getting out of jail due to the brutality that could face him when out.
Kalungi was arrested in Kenya were he had fled after the death of Nebanda despite having been at hand when the deceased passed on.
