Country singer, Carrie Underwood had a record to break during the 55th Grammy Awards 2013 yesterday night when she stepped out with diamonds worth $31m.
The diamonds draped around her neck had 381 carats and was designed by Johnathon Arndt. It had several shapes ranging from oval, pear, marquise and round-cut diamonds making her the one who wore the priciest Grammys jewels ever.
Underwood was doing double duty as a presenter and nominee at the annual Grammy awards. She paired the extravagant jewels with a black and grey strapless Robert Cavalli gown showcasing the diamonds perfectly. Her hair-do was simple, loose curls. “I thought sticking to something glam would be good for tonight,” she said.
Commenting about the necklace, Underwood said, “It’s worth more than me! It’s heavy on my soul. I’m worried someone’s going to tackle me.”
Last year, Sofia Vergara took the crown for wearing the priciest jewels with $5 million Harry Winston jewels at the 2012 Golden Globes and Jennifer Lopez’s $3 million earrings from Winston the year prior.
Underwood has also been nominated for the best dressed during the awards.
