The hot Butaleja by-election has ended with the sister of the late Cerina Nebanda emerging winner .NRM’s Florence Nebanda Andiru won the race with 27,338 votes and was followed by Betty Hamba an independent who got 12,157 votes ,the returning officer ,Mable Wakhabi announced.
Sarah Annet Logose (Independent) polled 3393 votes ,FDC’s Felista Namwihiri 3262 votes while Perusi Munaba (Independent) lost with 1332 votes.
The three former candidates ,Hamba ,Namwihiri and Munaba have conceded defeat and promised to accept the by-election results as they are .However ,the candidates have cited intimidation and voter bribery in the election which they say influenced voters in their disfavor .
On the contrary , Annet Logose has vowed to push her discontentment to another level ; on Tuesday she said she would consult with her legal team to decide what to do next .
Meanwhile Florance Nebanda has promised to push on the projects her late sister Nebanda left incomplete .
