Bank of Uganda has maintained the Central Bank Rate (CBR) at 12.0 Percent.
The central Bank for the third consecutive month maintained the Central Bank Rate (CBR) at 12.0 percent in February 2013, according to the Monetary Policy Statement for February 2013.
“Given the largely unchanged macroeconomic prospects for the medium term,Bank of Uganda will maitain the CBR AT 12 %” said the Policy statement statement issued by the Bank of Uganda Governor Tumusiime Mutebile on Monday.
According to the statement ,Annual headline inflation declined to 4.9 % from 5.3% in the month of December .Meanwhile Annual Core Inflation rose to 5.6% from 4.6% in December 2012 .
The statement adds that headline inflation declined largely as a result of food prices that declined on an average by 5.7% in the last two months.
Meanwhile core inflation increased on average by 1.1% in the last two month.
