Ben Affleck’s Argo has won the Best Picture for the Oscars 2013 at the 85th Academy Awards.

Based on fact, Argo is a thriller about the Iranian hostage crisis. Argo has won several awards including best film at the Baftas and best drama at the Golden Globes. It is based on the 1979 hostage crisis.

The film stars director Affleck as a CIA agent, while the supporting cast includes John Goodman, Bryan Cranston and Alan Arkin. Argo is Affleck’s third movie as a director. He directed Gone Baby Gone and the Boston crime drama The Town.

More winners for the night include Anne Hathaway who won the best picture for her role in Les Miserables, Christoph Waltz won the best supporting actor for his role in Django Unchained.

Adele won best original song for James Bond’s Skyfall and Skyfall won best sound tieing with Zark Dark Thirty.
