The theft of domestic animals such as goats, cows and sheep is said to be on the increase in Nwoya district.

The theft cases according to Nwoya district Authorities grew during the Christmas  festive season and  has since  been on an  increase.

Moses Odongkara the LC1 Chairperson of Kal Ward says that over 17 goats have been  stolen by unknown thieves in Anaka town Council alone.

Odongkara said that they have discussed with the Authorities of Anaka Town Council in Nwoya district and that they have issued a directive prohibiting the sale of goats and its other products by those without a recommendation letters.

He said that the ban will help in reducing the theft cases of domestic animals especially goats which have been a target of many thieves .

Odongkara notes that some of the goats are being sold in Gulu town where tracing may be difficult.
