At least 500 people are to face eviction from a forest reserve in Kyabigambire subcounty in Hoima district .

The encroachers had been given enough time by the National Forestry Authority (NFA) from last year to havest their crops and leave the reserve.

The reserve measures over 3096 hectares and is one of the 11 forest reserves in the oil rich district in western Uganda.

Robert Owiny the NFA sector Manager told the press last week that the encroachers despite the orders to leave the land have up to now not been showing any signs of leaving the land.
