As Butaleja by election draws near in heated campaigns, the Forum for Democratic Party (FDC) has gained with over 130 members from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party joining the party.
A source told Uganda Picks on Wednesday evening that 130 NRM members had joined the FDC party. The source added that the FDC president Mugisha Muntu has welcomed the news and expressed his gratitude to his team in Butaleja .
Campaigns are ongoing in the hot race to replace the late MP, Cerina Nebanda who died mysteriously in December 2012.However clashes have been reported among NRM supporters and independents .One Wednesday still, supporters said to belong to the NRM candidate Ms Florence Nebanda clashed with the supporters of Ms Betty Hamba an independent and people were injured in the process.
Voting is set to take place on February 11, 2013 and FDC’s candidate in the race is Felistus Namwihiri .
