After a woman who identified herself as came out and said the picture which was being used by the media as Ssemakookiro’s mother was actually hers, the mother of Ssemakookiro became a dead-end.
Every media house is in waiting for the real mother of the prince who was identified as Prince Richard Ssemakookiro by the Katikkiro, Mr John Baptist Walusimbi but this will take a little bit longer than anticipated.
Mengo Information minister Charles Peter Mayiga yesterday said that when a child is born in a family in Buganda, it is not introduced at the same time with the mother. “In the Ganda culture, when a mother gives birth, it is the born child that is introduced first in the family. The mother is introduced later at weddings or funeral rites and in this case, Ssemakookiro’s mother shall be known when that time comes,” he said.
Identified only as Ms. Rose Nansikombi from the Ensenene (grasshopper) clan, Ssemakookiro’s mother still remains a mystery.
