Victoria University has lost ties with the University of Buckingham which has been its major source of funding .The London university says it is breaking its ties with the the Ugandan university because of Uganda’s controversial bill on some of its minority groups .
Victoria university officials say the institution has not closed .The University’s Chancellor, Prof. Apolo Nsibambi says the university will continue operating despite losing affiliation with the university of Buckingham.
Nsibambi adds that students doing local courses will not be affected in any way. He says all affected students will be joined to other institutions in Kenya, London or Middlesex University in Dubai to complete their courses while those not interested in studying from abroad, he said, would be helped to find other universities in Uganda.
Yesterday the university officials briefed students about the changes at the university.
However ,Uganda Picks has did not learn of the changes to be made on Sports Club Victoria University, a football club which was becoming a better ground for football players in Uganda.
Victoria University was established in 2010.It has been offering qualifications validated by the University of Buckingham.
