The UPDF soldier who killed his wife alongside other women was found guilty of manslaughter by the army General Court Martial sitting.
Lance Corporal Herbert Rwakihembo was found guilty of manslaughter and was convicted and his sentence is to be read to him sometime later on in the day.
Corporal Rwakihembo killed his wife, Irene Kawendeke and two other women using his gun type AK47 sub machine gun. At the time of the murder, the accused was attached to Luzira Military barracks. He murdered the women at Kisenyi zone III in Luzira, Nakawa Municipality in Kampala on December 10, 2012 at around 7:45Pm.
It is alleged that Ryakihembo on the day of the crime went to Luzira, a Kampala suburb in working hours, shot at his wife and killed other two people identified as the deceased friends, Annette Nasolo and Loyce Kahendeke. He also shot at several residents of Kisenyi zone Luzira leaving one Aziz Bagawala, a Bodaboda cyclist, with multiple injuries and currently nursing his wounds at Doctors clinic in Kololo.
It is believed that Corporal Rwakihembo returned home during working hours unexpectedly and to confirm if is wife was cheating on him but di not find her home so he started looking for her. He found her chatting with her deceased two friends, lost his temper and opened fire.
