A two-man team, of Swedish from the city of Vimmerby have arrived in the country to begin negotiations for introduction of a solar power system to benefit youths.

The arrangements is part of proceeds from a twinning relationship between Mukono Municipality and  the Swedish city of Vimmerby.

Mukono Mayor Johnson Senyonga Muyanja who initiated co-operation between the two towns told Uganda Picks in an interview that a similar programme has already taken off in the Kenyan town of Kimilili, and is now being extended to Mukono to help benefit youth-run small scale commercial enterprises, as a poverty reduction intervention.

Muyanja said Mukono youths have already benefited from co-operation with their Swedish counterparts through funding construction of a youth centre to house a public library, an ICT centre and other recreational facilities, to be located in Ggulu ward in Mukono central division.
