The speaker of Parliament ,Rebecca Kadaga ,will this week rule on the controversial petition to recall parliament, according to sources from her office.
Kadaga will decide whether or not to recall parliament to discuss the arrests of some MPs over the statements made on the death of the late Butaleja MP,Cerina Nebanda .The news of ruling on the petition which has caused storm throughout the festive season comes when the parliamentary legal team is yet to decide on the intention by some mps to withdrawal their signatures .
The petition was handed in to the speaker’s office last week led by the Ajuri county MP, Hamson Obua after the petitioners got enough signatures .However over 11 MPs wrote to the speaker demanding to withdraw their signatures .
Some of the Mps who have asked to withdraw their signatures from the petition include ; Sara Nakawunde (Mpigi Woman),Kole county MP, Fred Ebil (UPC), NRM MPs Sempala Mbuga (Nakaseke South), Beatrice Rusaniya (Kiruhura Woman), Boaz Kafuda (Busongora South), Godfrey Lubega (Kasanda North) and Onyango Kakooba (Buikwe North).
Legal experts argue that the withdrawal of signatures cannot be affected since most of them signed it while they were of sound mind.
