Kadaga cited reasons such as withdrawal of signatures from the petition and forgery of some of the signatures as a basis on making her decision.

This development comes just as the NRM MPs are on a retreat in Kyankwanzi after being summoned by President Museveni to discuss the party’s manifesto and its achievements since being sworn into power way back in 1986.

MPs wanted parliament to be called from recess in order to discus the arrest of some MPs over the death of Butaleja MP, Cerina Nebanda among other things. The petition was led by Dennis Obua and was backed by a section of MPs who felt Nebanda’s issue had not been concluded quite well.

President Museveni had vowed that Parliament will not be called over the issue of Nebanda and cited the police to question everyone who had comments insinuating foul play in the death of Nebanda. Many have been summoned and arrested as a result of this including Muhammed Nsereko, Sam Lyomoki, among others.

The speaker herself is to be summoned and questioned over the death by police.
