Speaker of parliament Rebbecca Kadaga during the Christmas Eve told President Museveni that she has no problem with recalling parliament contrary with the president’s stand that parliament should not be recalled from recess.
President Museveni during the meeting at his country home in Rwakitura demanded that the petition by MPs, who want Parliament recalled, be blocked. The President Museveni argued that recalling parliament would not stop the police investigations into the death of Butaleja District Woman MP Cerinah Nebanda.
Kadaga in response stated that recalling parliament is a constitutional right.So far the petitioners have raised 114 signatures to recall House .The legislators want parliament to discuss the hunt of different Mps over the death of Cerina Nebanda.
Sources at the meeting say Museveni stated that parliament would be recalled over his dead body.The speaker together with MPs are currently waiting for the president’s decision if the petitioners get the remaining 11 signatures to recall parliament.
While discussing Nebanda ,Kadaga told President Museveni that her member never used to take alcohol. “Nebanda had told me twice that she did not drink alcohol”. Kadaga said according to sources at the meeting.
