Rihanna and Chris Brown are officially back together again.

The couple has been rumored to have started dating again from last year, 2012 after being spotted, more than once, together, going out on dates, spending time together, posting photos of each other and Brown splitting from his then-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran. Now, Rihanna has confirmed, yes, they are dating, again.

Rihanna made the revelation during an interview with Rolling Stone in which she opens up about her relationship with the 23-year-old, why she decided to get back together with her and what their relationship is about now. “I decided it was more important for me to be happy,” Rihanna said. “I wasn’t going to let anybody’s opinion get in the way of that. Even if it’s a mistake, it’s my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I’d rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it.”

She went on to add that now, they know what exactly they are in for, why and what is at stake. “When you add up the pieces from the outside, it’s not the cutest puzzle in the world. We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don’t want to lose that.”

Their getting back together however has some strings attached. Brown is currently under investigation for allegedly assaulting singer, Frank Ocean and he swears he did not start the fight although witnesses pin him saying he swung the first blow. Rihanna believes her man, but, if it is true, she is not willing to go through the same traumatic experience she went through back in 2009. “He doesn’t have the luxury of [messing] up again. That’s just not an option.”

“He made a mistake, and he’s paid his dues,” Rihanna adds. “He’s paid so much. And I know that’s not a place he would ever want to go back to. And sometimes people need support and encouragement, instead of ridicule and criticism and bashing.”

Rihanna and Chris Brown split up in 2009 after Brown assaulted her on the night before the 2009 Grammy Awards. He pleaded guilty to the charges and still on probation.
