By Juma Nsubuga

Residents of Mukono municipality have threatened to hold a peaceful demonstration in 30days from now if the Minister of Works and Transport ,Abraham Byandala fails to assure them how far  his office  has gone with the preparations of constructing the  poor  roads in their area.

The roads in question include Seta-Namugongo, Misinydye-Kasayi, Kyetume-Katosi, Kirowoza-Namanve and Mukono-Kayunga roads.

The area MP Betty Nambooze has written to minister Byandala informing him that her constituents have lost patience that’s why they are planning to demonstrate in case the minister fails to respond to them in 30day period.

“Am writing to seek your assurance about plans by your office if any to address the matter of roads in Mukono to enable me satisfactorily explain to my constituents who have since lost patience. My constituents affirm that they will be constrained to demonstrate appropriately to express their displeasure in regard to their plight within 30days” Hon Nambooze confirmed

Mukono-Kayunga road and Kampala-Jinja highway are in a state of disrepair and risk being washed away by over flooding during the rains because the storm water channels are not regularly de-silted while Seeta-Namugongo Misindye-Kasayi road is now a menace and the residents can’t stand the dust anymore since many of them are falling sick from constantly inhaling it.

Last year the residents of Buikwe County south also petitioned parliament over Kyetume-Katosi road.

At the beginning of 2011-2012 financial year, Kyetume –Katosi road was on the list of roads which planned to work on but until now nothing has been done to reconstruct the road.
