Residents of Mpunge sub-county held an inter-clan annual Luganda language and culture competition geared at boosting knowledge of Buganda traditional norms and cultures especially among the youths.

The inaugural competition held  as an end-of-year festivity at the sub-county headquarters was won by Mr. Kintu James of the “nkejje”
(silver fish) clan who walked away with shs 250,000/-, followed by Mr. Mubiru Hannington of the “mamba” (lung fish) clan who bagged shs 150,000/=.

Handing out the prizes, Mukono Mayor Johnson Senyonga Muyanja who is also the Kabaka’s  Deputy Gombolola chief for Kauga in Kyaggwe, advised organisers to incorporate  poverty reduction training in the competition, to give a double purpose of intensifying people’s knowledge about Buganda and improving their welfare.

He pledged to contribute gowns and money in future competitions, to attract bigger participation.
