President Yoweri Museveni  met African Union Chairman, also president of Benin,  Yayi Boni on Thursday.The AU head met the president at State House Entebbe .

President Museveni and HE.Boni Yaya  discussed various conflicts affecting the African continent particularly in Mali, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), South Sudan and Somalia.

The President said that in the Great Lakes’ Region, the conflict is now in the DR Congo.

He, however, noted that the issue of governance in the DRC was being addressed as the country has had 2 elections in the recent times. He said that what remains today are the issues pertaining to all the groups in the country.

Mr. Museveni said the African continent has got a lot capacity that has not been tapped. He pledged to send Ugandan oil scientists to assist Benin in its efforts to explore and extract oil in that country.

President Boni was accompanied by his Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Bako Arifaki Nassirou, the Ambassador of Benin to Uganda, Mr. Ferdinand Monfcho and the Special Advisor to President Boni Ms. Diallo A. Mariam.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador James Mugume.
