By Juma Nsubuga

MPs have attributed the massive failures in PLE in rural schools to failure by parents to play their roles in child upbringing. The MPs say that parents have neglected their roles of providing the basic needs to their children which has affected the performance of the children especially in Rural schools.

Ntenjeru South MP,Patrick Nsanja together with Iganga District Woman MP, Olivia Kabale Kwagala  have tasked parents to ensure the welfare of their children by providing food and necessities as government provides school fees.

“It is the responsibility of parents to provide food for the children , they should accept to pack for children or even pay money for feeding as the way of motivating children.” MP Nsanji said

They added that government must be open to the parents and pronounce  its position on the issue of providing  food to children.

The MPs also urged government to look into the issue of motivating the teachers in terms of salaries, accommodation and facilities.
