The Ugandan police has warned the public about engaging in alcohol drinking competitions saying they usually lead the death of competitors.
The central region police spokesperson ,Lameck Kigozi while told journalists on Wednesday that much as the police has tried to stop people from these competitions ,they go ahead and participate and others end up dying .
Mr Kigozi stated that police has laid down serious measures for the organizers of alcohol drinking competitions .
These rare competitions usually take place in rural areas where some of the participants die and are not reported to the authorities. In one incident in 2011,two people were left unconscious after taking part in a drinking competition.
Most of the organisers order the drunk participants to run which worsens their conditions .More cases of drinking competitions have been reported in Ugandan districts of Luwero,Nakaseke and Kayunga.
