These rare competitions usually take place in rural areas where some of the participants die and are not reported to the authorities. In one incident in 2011,two people were left unconscious after taking part in a drinking competition.

Most of the organisers order the drunk participants to run which worsens their conditions .More cases of drinking competitions  have been reported in Ugandan  districts of Luwero,Nakaseke and Kayunga.
