Many betting companies in Uganda are reaping big from the booming business .The new business has been embraced by unemployed youth and idle city dwellers.
Betting companies usually showcase games and sports like the England Premiership, La Liga, FIFA and other major leagues in Europe where some Ugandans have earned a lot of money while others make loses.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Ibin Senkumbi while addressing journalists in Kampala on Wednesday said that some people have ended up selling their property to invest in betting. He added that when some of these people make loses ,they resort to stealing.
Senkumbi said that police finds it hard to arrest those who have abused others in these gambling activities because there is no Ugandan law on betting.
