Pader District did not join the rest of the country in Celebrating the 27th NRM anniversary on Wednesday.The district has postponed the celebration to today , Friday 1st February, 2013.
Catherine Lamwaka the Pader Resident District Commissioner said that they postponed the celebration because of the Cadre training in the district which has so far taken 3 weeks.
Lamwaka explained that they wrote to the office of the President and requested for the postponement such that they may move on with the cadre training .
In Kitgum district, the Kitgum LCV chairman Dr. Luka Nyeko during the celebration urged the youth in Kitgum district to work very hard so that they may improve on their livelihoods at the time when peace has returned in Northern Uganda.
Dr. Nyeko was speaking during the Celebration to mark the NRM Anniversary day in Lagoro sub County-Pader district.
Nyeko said that if they do not become productive, they will remain poor forever and their future will be doomed.
The NRM Anniversary celebration in Kitgum district was celebrated with a lot of activities and many of the local leaders in Kitgum attended.
In Gulu District, RDC James Navinson Kidega vowed to fight corruption in the district.
Kidega while addressing the residents at Kaunda Grounds in Gulu said that corruption was slowly eating up Uganda if no solution is found for it .
The RDC also called on residents in Gulu to come out as soon as possible and report any suspected cases of corruption.
The NRM Anniversary which is annually celebrated on the 26th was postponed by the government to the 30th of January 2013.
The government declared Wednesday 30th January 2013 a public holiday to allow the nation to celebrate this day.
The national celebration was held in Kasese district and was presided over by President Yoweri Museveni at Nyakasanga grounds in Kasese Municipality.
