NRM Rebel MPs are set to appear before the ruling party’s disciplinary committee for acting contrary to the party’s decisions.
The NRM caucus resolved on Monday to have Buyaga West MP,Barnabas Tinkasiimire ,Wilfred Nuwagaba (Ndorwa East), Theodore Ssekikubo(Lwemiyaga County), Mr Mohammed Nsereko (Kampala Central), and Mr Vincent Kyamadidi (Rwampara County) before the disciplinary committee .
The MPs are accused of criticising President Museveni and opposing NRM party decisions.President Museveni during the retreat in Kyankwanzi stated that the rebel MPs in the party are plotting to bring down his government.
“The caucus unanimously resolved that the MPs should appear before the disciplinary committee. The committee will then decide what action to be taken,” said Ms Evelyn Anite, the NRM Caucus spokesperson.
According to our sources close to these said rebel Mps , they honoured the Kyankwanzi invitation to listen in on the proceedings and plot how to defeat the proposed punitive party rules that are expected to be adopted during the retreat. The proposed rules aim at dealing with the growing opposition and infighting within the party.
The ‘rebel’ MPs too accuse President Museveni of playing double standards in his treatment of corruption cases and holding on to power for a long time .
One of the accused MPs ,Barnabas Tinkasiimire during the retreat out rightly asked president Museveni to retire and called for the reinstatement of term limits.
