NRM MPs who are going to attend the ten -day Kyankwanzi retreat have said that even if Alcohol and Drugs is not one of the issues to be discussed in Kyankwanzi retreat, they are going to force the items to be included on  the agenda.

While addressing reporters  at parliament today ,Sembabule district woman MP Hanifa Kawoya lamented that  Alcohol and Drugs is now normal for MPs.

“It’s very bad for a Law maker to take Alcohol . We need to be exemplary to the public. It’s our mandate to tell our electorates the dangers of boozing but not to participate in boozing. Am going to bring the issue of Alcohol in our retreat. I will also tell our president that most of NRM MPs especially the woman do booze and come to parliament for  business. I will also propose penalties for MPs who attends parliament business when they are drunk” Hon Kawoya said

“Some of us (MPs) are Muslims. Its very sad to seat next to a person who is drunk in the chambers”Hon Kawooya added

Meanwhile the minister of state for fisheries Ruth Nankabirwa supported Hon Kayowa suggestion of disciplining all MPs who always come to parliament while drunk.

“I would also want all MPs to be tested of HIV/AIDS because some MPs don’t know their HIV status” The minister proposed
The source who our reporter talked to said that before putting up terms and conditions on MPs who booze, parliament should first ban Alcohol from the  parliamentary canteen.
