Uganda’s ruling party ,the National Resistance Movement party is today celebrating its 27th anniversary in leadership.The NRM celebration has been hosted in Kasese ,Uganda’s western district .
The 27th NRA/NRM Anniversary celebrations which were due to take place on Saturday 26th January 2013 were postponed to today Wednesday 30th January 2013 and the day was declared a public holiday.
On 26th January, 1986, the National Resistance Movement came to power following the capture of Kampala by the National Resistance Army.The day celebrates the NRM capture of power every year in different districts.
The function is presided over by President Yoweri Museveni, and it is hosted at Nyakasanga grounds, Nyamwamba division, in Kasese Municipality.
The day will be celebrated under the theme: “Lessons from Our History: NRM’s Commitment to Create a Better Future for Uganda”.
The people of Kasese district have welcomed an opportunity to host the big NRM day in their district .Most district leaders are waiting on the president to reecho the numerous challenges in the district such as the poor remote roads ,high poverty levels and the dilapidated railway line among other challenges.
