Gunmen attacked Nigeria’s military base on Wednesday .The attack in Nigeria’s Borno State left at least seven people, including two security men dead .Xinhua reported on Thursday
According to Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, the spokesman of the military Joint Task Force (JTF), the attack against the 21 Brigade troops in Marte took place on Wednesday afternoon at around 2 p.m.
He added that five gunmen were killed in the exchange of fire. Government troops then managed to seize two AK 47 Rifles, a Dane gun, a locally made double barrel gun, machetes and three magazines loaded with 35 rounds of various ammunition.
“In the process, one soldier, one police personnel and five gunmen lost their lives during an exchange of fire,” Musa said in a statement.
Most attacks in the central and northern sections of Nigeria are believed to be orchestrated by the Boko Haram sect.
