Mutesa I Royal University yesterday rewarded its first and former council chairman Mr Ssebaana Kizito for the tremendous work he did for the university since its inception.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony held to in Kampala yesterday, the university’s vice chancellor, Prof. Isaac Kigongo Bukenya revealed that the current strong foundation that the university stands on is based on the great contribution of Mr Ssebaana which forced the university to reward him.

While receiving the awards, Mr Ssebanna warmly applauded his majesty the Kabaka and the university council for the good gesture to him.

The former Kampala mayor Mr Ssebanna Kizito served at Mutesa University from 2007 to 2011 as university council chairman.

Meanwhile Prof. Kigongo demanded local universities not to follow western cultures in exchange for donation however asked them to stick to their indigenous cultures.

Mutesa 1 University prepares to host its 2nd graduation ceremony slated on 15 February this year at Kilumba Masaka campus.
