President Museveni has re-echoed the government’s commitment to fight the embezzlement of funds in the country.
According to president Museveni, government has already dealt with other crimes like torture, extra judicial killings and similar crimes which characterized some past regimes and it it is now set to focus on corruption.
In a press statement issued by caucus spokesperson Evelyn Anite, Museveni again pinned civil servants on as being perpetrators of this vice but however vowed to continue using the police and NRM cadres to expose these scandals just as it has been done in the past few months.
He assured the country and the Caucus that the thieves in the civil service will be effectively and decisively dealt with.
The President said that government is committed to the full operationalization of the provisions of the law that deals with the confiscation of the proceeds of ill-gotten wealth, and he accordingly directed the leadership of the Caucus to urgently harmonize the upcoming pieces of legislation from both the Executive and the private member’s Bill (Anti-Corruption –Amendment – Bill 2012) by Hon. John Simbwa the Makindye East MP.
